1869/69 1C Snow-4, FS-303, MS66 Brown PCGS. The 69 in the date are recut, not as dramatically as on FS-301, but the recutting is still immediately noticed under a loupe. This Premium Gem is highly lustrous, showing copper-red, steel-blue, and plum hues. The strike is bold. There is a small planchet lamination at the tip of the bust truncation that is slightly elevated from the field. It is cast in shadow in the high resolution images and should not be mistaken for a carbon spot. This coin exhibits no carbon. Population (Snow-4): 2 in 66 Brown, 0 finer (6/17).
