Proof Lincoln Cents
1936 1C Type One--Satin Finish PR66 Red PCGS. The resumption of proof coinage in 1936 was greeted with a collective yawn by collectors, who were preoccupied with a boom in commemorative coinage and not much else. The Mint experimented with two proof finishes. Type One cents feature a partially reflective, "satiny" finish format. Type Two proofs, issued later, display fully mirrored surfaces. Just 5, 539 proofs were struck in all. This richly toned Type One representative shows rich copper-orange color with brick-red accents. The strike is pinpoint sharp. Population: 38 in 66 (3 in 66+) Red, 1 finer (6/17).
