Buffalo Nickels
1937-D 5C Three-Legged, FS-901, MS62 PCGS. Well struck and free of all but a couple of minuscule nicks on each side, this iron-gray Mint State nickel with just a touch of rose toning is a highly satisfying example of this famous variety. All of the relevant diagnostics are clear, from the missing leg itself (a victim of overzealous lapping) to the trail of dots leading from the bison's belly to the ground.
Ex: Dallas Signature (Heritage, 11/2006), lot 414.
