Bust Half Dimes
1837 H10C Large 5C, V-1, LM-5, R.1, MS66 PCGS. The A in AMERICA is repunched on this collectible type-coin variety. This Premium Gem example displays satin luster with a hint of champagne toning near the borders. The obverse is sharp save for the lower-left border dentils, and the reverse shows mild weakness only on the eagle's left (facing) wing. Struck from clashed dies. Regardless of variety, the 1837 half dime is the scarcest date of the Capped Bust half dime series and virtually unknown any finer. No LM-5 variety exists in a finer grade. Population (all varieties): 6 in 66 (3 in 66+), 0 finer (6/17).
