Proof Twenty Cent Pieces
1878 20C PR60 PCGS. The 1878 mintage of 600 twenty cent proofs represent the final production of this short-lived series, ill-conceived in theory as well as design, and politically motivated as well. Today, the series is popular with collectors -- especially the proof-only years of 1877 and 1878. This example is at the low end of the proof scale with uneven reddish-gold toning and blue accents at the borders. The fields remain reflective and the sharply struck devices are well-frosted. Housed in a previous generation green label holder.
