Early Quarters
1806 25C B-5, High R.4, XF45 PCGS. Tompkins Die State 2/2. The lower-left serif on 1 is missing, and weakness at the field stars on the reverse are seen on all examples of the scarce B-5 die marriage. A depression across the shield top that affects the horizontal lines is seen on both the B-5 and B-6 varieties, which share the same reverse. Light sea-green and gold toning yields to silver-gray patina across most of the obverse and reverse. Only a few letters from E PLURIBUS UNUM remain visible, typical of the central weakness for the variety.
