1871 25C MS65 PCGS. Briggs 2-B. Die scratches on the right elbow and near IN in the motto identify the Briggs 2-B die pair. Larry Briggs provided an R.5 rating in Mint State back in 1991. That seems to hold up today with an estimated 35 Uncirculated examples, including a small handful at this elite level. This frosty Gem is brilliant and well-struck with localized softness on the last few stars and olive leaves. Population: 3 in 65, 4 finer (6/17).
