1795 CENT Talbot, Allum, & Lee Cent, Fuld-1, W-8620, R.1, AU58 PCGS. CAC. This English-produced tokens are plentiful today as a result of the large production quantity. In fact, the firm had so many of them that they sold a quantity to the Philadelphia Mint for use in half cent production. The Mint purchased 1,076 pounds of these tokens (probably dated 1794) on April 23, 1795, and they purchased an additional 1,914 pounds of tokens (probably dated 1795), on December 10, 1796. The cost was a little over $500 for nearly 150,000 pieces. This near-Mint example has frosty surfaces with full cartwheel luster and no marks of any consequence on either side. The chestnut-brown surfaces host traces of faded mint red. Listed on page 78 of the 2018 Guide Book.
