1783 COPPER Georgivs Triumpho Token, Baker-7, W-10100, Musante GW-54, R.3, XF45 PCGS. CAC. Housed in a green-label PCGS holder, this Choice XF example has a prominent vertical die crack on the reverse, typical of the majority of those known. This attractive example has smooth, mark-free olive and steel-brown surfaces. Described as a weaving frame by Walter Breen, Neil Musante has a different view of the reverse motif, noting that two events occurred in Paris in September 1783. One event was the signing of the Treaty of Paris marking the end of the Revolutionary War, and the second event was the ascent of the first hot air balloon that took place just 16 days after the treaty was signed. Musante suggests the reverse design might be the basket of that hot air balloon. Listed on page 81 of the 2018 Guide Book.
