1776 $1 Continental Dollar, CURRENCY, Pewter, Newman 2-C, W-8355, R.3 -- Obverse Spot Removed -- NGC Details. Unc. This is the variety that has CURRENCY spelled correctly, and without the designer's EG FECIT that appears on another variety. The pleasing light gray surfaces of this piece exhibit cartwheel luster over the sharp design details. Considerable dark gray corrosion is evident, especially on the obverse, with tooling marks where an attempt was made to diminish the appearance of that corrosion. An acceptable example for the collector who seeks an affordable example that has all of the design details present. Listed on page 87 of the 2018 Guide Book.
