Bust Half Dollars
1822 50C O-105, R.3, MS65+ PCGS. This high-end Gem represents the usual early die state variant of O-105, however it is conditionally rare in the present grade. Although not the finest O-105 half dollar known, this piece is near the top of the Condition Census. Any 1822 half dollar in MS65 is a rarity, and only a handful of coins from any die pairing are known finer. This piece showcases a tack-sharp strike and potent luster. Rose-gold and sea-green hues transition to blue before meeting lavender-gray interiors. There are no mentionable abrasions, and eye appeal is outstanding. Population (all Normal Date varieties included): 11 in 65 (1 in 65+), 5 finer (6/17).
