Morgan Dollars
1892-S $1 -- Improperly Cleaned -- NGC Details. Unc. After the famous 1893-S, the 1892-S Morgan dollar is the rarest date in the series in Uncirculated condition. The present coin is cleaned, but even in this condition it is rare as an unworn example of the date. Only a few unobtrusive hairlines prevent a numeric grade from NGC. What is more important about this coin is its glimmering prooflike fields. Only a handful of certified Uncirculated '92-S dollars are Prooflike, and this piece most likely would have received such a designation were it not lightly cleaned. The strike is bold and each side is brilliant. A quite appealing example of the issue despite the lack of a numeric grade.
