Morgan Dollars
1893-O $1 MS64+ PCGS. CAC. The Panic of 1893 resulted in the repeal of the Sherman Silver Purchase Act, releasing the United States Mint from its obligation to coin millions of unneeded silver dollars every year. Accordingly, the mintage of Morgan dollars dropped precipitously in 1893 and the New Orleans Mint only struck a total of 300,000 examples. The 1893-O is a sought-after semikey in the series today.
This Plus-graded Choice specimen exhibits well-detailed design elements, with just a touch of the usual softness on the hair strands above Liberty's ear. The well-preserved surfaces show vibrant, satiny mint luster with some areas of prooflike reflectivity on the reverse. Hints of forest-green toning visit the peripheries. Population: 92 in 64 (5 in 64+), 6 finer. CAC: 19 in 64, 0 finer (6/17).
