Liberty Double Eagles
1892-CC $20 AU58 PCGS. CAC. Variety 1-A. The 1892-CC double eagle is undoubtedly a scarce issue, especially in high grades. But examples can be located with a bit of searching. About 4% of the 27,265 coin-mintage is believed to have survived, largely because of the number of pieces exported to Europe via San Francisco and the growing interest in mintmark collecting around this time. The originality of this nearly Uncirculated twenty dollar gold coin is unmistakably, with rich green-gold color and an abundance of thick, frosty mint luster. Sharply struck on the stars, curls, and wingtips, though a touch of high-point friction is present. Highly desirable with the seldom-offered green CAC approval sticker.
