Morgan Dollars
1899 $1 MS64 Deep Mirror Prooflike PCGS. The low mintage of 330,000 pieces is deceiving. One of the lowest productions of Morgan dollars in the series, the 1899 sat in Treasury vaults until they were released en masse in the 1950s and 1960s. Much touted for the low mintage, they were hoarded and numismatically saved in great number. Deep Mirror Prooflike examples, on the other hand, are very scarce in high grades. This near-Gem example is brilliant except for some foggy patina beneath the eagle's wings. The surfaces show only minor marks across the glassy-smooth and reflective fields. The lightly frosted motifs are well-struck. Population: 89 in 64 (3 in 64+) Deep Mirror Prooflike, 66 finer (6/17).
