Proof Morgan Dollars
1901 $1 PR66 Cameo PCGS. The 1901 Morgan dollar claims a mintage of nearly 7 million business strikes, but few examples were saved. Many coins were likely melted under the provisions of the Pittman Act in 1918. Thus, high-grade circulation strikes are exceedingly rare, and proofs often take their place in collectors' sets. The increased demand puts significant pressure on the small supply of proofs (813 specimens minted). This impressive Premium Gem displays deeply mirrored fields that contrast starkly against frosty devices. A few wisps of champagne-gold toning add to the tremendous visual appeal. Population: 11 in 66 Cameo, 3 finer (6/17).
