Miscellaneous Medals and Tokens
(c. 1854) Royal Hawaiian Agricultural Society Exhibit Award, Julian AM-24, AU50 Uncertified. The Society was established in 1850 and became inactive within six years. They contacted Mint Director James Ross Snowden via an intermediary and arranged for these medals to be produced. The Treasury agreed, with the stipulation that they be produced outside of normal mint hours. Julian reports that the request for production was sent to the mint in 1854 and that the medals were last struck in 1857. This engraved medal has a poultry scene.
