Bust Half Dollars
1815/2 50C O-101a, R.3, XF40 PCGS. A surprising amount of mint luster survives around the devices of this silver-gray coin, with sharply defined motifs for both the 1815/2 issue and for its assigned grade. The remnant of an underdigit 2 is easily viewed with a glass above the outer curve of the 5. Die clashing combines with a group of diagnostic die cracks on the reverse to confirm the late die state. Always in demand as the sole 1815 variety with just 47,150 pieces struck, this lightly toned example shows only a few light marks and is housed in an old green label holder. Population: 54 in 40, 150 finer (6/17).
