Bust Half Dollars
1831 50C O-120, Low R.6 -- Cleaning -- PCGS Genuine. VF Details. A bulge in the obverse field near star 3 helps identify the buckled die of Overton-120, one of the most challenging varieties in the later Bust half series and by far the rarest 1831 variety. The ill-prepared obverse die failed early, creating this highly sought rarity. The surfaces are smooth but lightly cleaned, although they remain pleasingly toned and suffer little from the effects. This is an entirely suitable representative of the O-120 die pair, sure to see spirited bidding.
