Seated Half Dollars
1871-CC 50C WB-101, Die Pair 7, R.4, Fine 15 NGC. Representative of the Nevada silver interests pushed through legislation to establish a Mint at Carson City in 1863, and seven years later the Mint opened in 1870 with the production of silver and gold coins. Coinage continued through 1885 before being suspended, and started again in 1889, permanently closing in 1893. This important half dollar represents the early years with lightly toned silver surfaces that show trivial hairlines and marks.
