Seated Half Dollars
1890 50C WB-101 MS66 PCGS. An exceedingly bold strike and, unlike many Mint State survivors of this issue, without a trace of prooflikeness in the fields. Lovely bluish-green and rose-gold toning adorns each side. The 1890 is the final issue in the Seated Half Dollar series with a drastically reduced mintage. A mere 12,590 pieces were produced, including 590 pieces in proof format. High-grade business strikes of this quality are very rare. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 14 in 66 (3 in 66+), 6 finer (6/17).
Ex: Baltimore Signature Sale (Heritage, 7/2003), lot 7645; Long Beach Signature Sale (Heritage, 9/2004), lot 6692.
