1799 $1 Irregular Date, 13 Stars Reverse, B-13, BB-151, R.5, XF40 PCGS Secure. Ex: Hesselgesser. Bowers Die State II, as always, with die flaws near the E in STATES. Orange-gold and lilac-red toning adorns this rare variety early dollar. Glimpses of jade-green patina reside in peripheral protected areas. A charming, lightly marked example. The "Irregular Date" obverse die was paired with two different 13 Stars reverses to create the highly challenging BB-151 and the moderately scarce BB-152. The two marriages are readily distinguished by the berry stems on the branch, which are distinct on BB-151 and nearly lapped away on BB-152.
