1799 $1 7x6 Stars, B-5, BB-157, R.2 -- Improperly Cleaned -- NGC Details. AU. Bowers Die State II. A crack travels through STATES and from the tailfeathers through UNI. The most accessible variety of the year, BB-157 dollars survive to the extent of perhaps 650 to 1,000 pieces. However, they are rarely seen higher than XF condition. Bowers estimated 15 to 25 coins in AU and at most 18 examples finer. This fantastic 1799 dollar is fully struck with minimal high-point friction. An old cleaning results in a uniform layer of golden-brown and gunmetal-blue patina that is inoffensive.
