Proof Seated Dollars
1864 $1 PR62 NGC. OC-P4, High R.5. Seated dollar specialists Dick Osburn and Brian Cushing propose a survival estimate of 235 proofs for the 1864, which claims an original mintage of 470 pieces. Glints of golden-gray color accent this razor-sharp PR62 representative. A few stray ticks and hairlines on each side define the grade, but the eye appeal is surprisingly strong. OC-P4 is the second-rarest die pair among proofs, with only 45 pieces believed extant. The right base of the 1 is in line with the right edge of the denticle, and the third vertical shield line extends to the fifth horizontal.
