(1942) 1C Amber Glass Token, RB 42-70-T-1, R.8 -- Fragment -- NGC. 0.88 grams, 20.08 mm. (vertical), Specific Gravity 2.50. This yellow-amber fragment was produced from hastily made test dies with overlapping capital Letters AA on one side and spiral lathe grooves on both sides. The surfaces exhibit myriad bubbles and inclusions. This is likely a test piece to gain an understanding of the processes necessary to produce glass coinage. This fragment was probably broken within the factory to assess the durability of a glass coinage.
