1868 3CN Three Cent Nickel, Judd-618, Pollock-687, R.4, PR65 Deep Cameo PCGS. CAC. Similar to the regular issue, but the Roman numerals on the reverse are smooth instead of ribbed. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. These patterns were also struck in copper and aluminum, but the nickel strikings are much more frequently encountered. This example is essentially brilliant with just a hint of pale golden on the reverse. The fields are deeply reflective with thick mint frost over the design elements, providing a stark cameo contrast.
