1869 10C Standard Silver Ten Cents, Judd-702, Pollock-781, R.5, PR66 Cameo NGC. Ex: S. M. Damon Collection. Standard Silver design with a diadem in Liberty's hair on the obverse. The reverse has an oak and laurel wreath with STANDARD SILVER above and the date below with 10 CENTS in the center. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. These pieces were part of Standard Silver sets that the Mint sold for $15. Examples were also struck in copper and aluminum, both reeded and plain edge variants. This is an exceptional piece. The centers are brilliant and surrounded by an off-center arc of iridescence on the right margin of each side. Thickly frosted devices set against the deeply mirrored fields yields a strong cameo contrast.
