1873 T$1 Trade Dollar, Judd-1322, Pollock-1465, R.4, PR64 Cameo PCGS. CAC. The obverse is similar to the adopted design, but with a longer base on the rock that extends to the right (facing) rim behind Liberty. The reverse shows a small eagle high in the field, with spread wings and holding a ribbon that is nearly a closed loop in its beak. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. This design was sold by the Mint as part of six-piece sets. Examples were produced in silver, copper, aluminum, and white metal. The reeded edge silver pieces are the most frequently encountered. The fields on this piece exhibit deep, watery fields with sharply contrasting frosted devices.
