Gold Dollars
1852-D G$1 AU58 PCGS. Variety 4-F. This is the only known die pair for the mintage of 6,360 gold dollars struck at Dahlonega in 1852. Doug Winter estimates 125 to 175 examples survive in all grades, including 10 or fewer Mint State pieces. The reflective surfaces of this example are nicer than they might appear at first glance, but many of the apparent marks are die or planchet anomalies. Both sides exhibit full light yellow-gold luster. Population: 17 in 58, 15 finer (6/17).
