1839-C $2 1/2 AU55 NGC. Breen-6150, Winter-2, Variety 22, R.4. Both dies are shattered in this late die state. The coin shows warm orange-gold color and lightly marked surfaces. Slight strike weakness is noted on the highest hair curls, while there is little loss of detail from wear. This variety shows the 3 in the date dramatically recut.
