Classic Quarter Eagles
1839-D $2 1/2 VF25 PCGS. Winter 1-B, Variety 25, R.4. The 1839-D is a popular quarter eagle. It is the second, and final, issue from Dahlonega with the Classic design, and only 13,674 pieces were struck. An estimated 200-250 pieces are believed extant with a fairly even number of survivors spread over the VF, XF, and AU grades. This is a reddish-gold example with even wear over the high points and minimal marks from circulation.
