Liberty Quarter Eagles
1870 $2 1/2 MS61 PCGS. CAC. The 1870 mintage is nearly on par with the previous year's production. Only 4,520 quarter eagles were struck for this issue, and all Mint State examples are very rare. This MS61 two and a half dollar gold piece has the prooflike reflectivity expected of a high-grade survivor from a low-mintage issue. Curving lathe lines appear on Liberty's portrait, which shows full definition like the other motifs. Frosty and highly appealing. Population: 6 in 61, 4 finer. CAC: 1 in 61, 0 finer (6/17).
