Proof Liberty Quarter Eagles
1904 $2 1/2 PR61 PCGS. The appeal of proof gold from the 19th and early 20th centuries is unlike that of anything else in American numismatics. This collectible PR61 quarter eagle is truly an example of the Mint's best capabilities, with razor-sharp detail throughout and the orange-peel textured fields that collectors have come to expect. Each side is mirrored with scattered signs of contact, limiting the grade. The Mint struck 170 proof quarter eagles in 1904, in line with other proof mintages from the period.
