Three Dollar Gold Pieces
1878 $3 MS64+ PCGS. CAC. The Mint bumped three dollar gold production to 82,304 coins in 1878, anticipating heightened demand for gold as the yellow metal reached parity with paper currency. Demand never materialized, and the coins remained in storage, accounting for the survival rate of the 1878. This thickly frosted near-Gem shows a strong strike and appealing rose-gold color. Free of clashing with a few scattered ticks.
