Liberty Half Eagles
1854-D $5 Large D AU55 PCGS. Variety 36-AA. The mintmark is lightly recut at its base on this Large D variety. The coin shows luminous yellow-gold surfaces and good central detail but is weak along the lower obverse dentils. There is a small mark on Liberty's cheek, and two others are noted on the horizontal shield stripes and below the eagle's left (facing) wing. An old paper coin envelope is included, indicating the private purchase of this coin in September 1928. Population: 32 in 55, 65 finer (6/17).
