1881 $5 MS65 PCGS. Flashy yellow-gold surfaces with vibrant luster and a good strike make this piece a rarity among the most common date in the half eagle series. The reverse bears some distinctive die cracks around much of the legends, perhaps most obviously between the final D of UNITED and initial S of STATES, going through the tip of the eagle's wing. Population: 22 in 65, 1 finer (6/17).
