Liberty Eagles
1849 $10 MS61 PCGS. The 1849 is among the more plentiful No Motto gold eagles in high grade, although Mint State examples are nonetheless rare. Type collectors seeking an attractive Mint State coin on a budget have few options apart from the 1849. This example is lustrous and offers pleasing yellow-gold patina. There is slight strike weakness on the eagle's left (facing) leg and the hair curls above Liberty's ear, while minor abrasions determine the grade. The coin is quite pleasing for the MS61 level. Population: 14 in 61, 24 finer (6/17).
