A die line within the dentils under the second 1 in the date, a die crack through stars 11 to 13, and a repunched mintmark are characteristic of this variety. In 1891, the Carson City Mint struck 203,732 ten dollar gold coins. Today, the issue represents the most collectible emission from this popular branch mint. Sun-gold rims and lavender-gold interiors color this lustrous, well-struck eagle. A hint of softness appears over Liberty's ear.
