Liberty Eagles
1892-O $10 MS63 PCGS. Variety 1. A late die state representative with cracks connecting 92, stars 2 to 4, and much of the reverse legend. The surviving population suggests most of the 28,688 eagles struck at the New Orleans Mint in 1892 never circulated. A majority survive in MS61 to MS62 (450 to 550+ coins, according to Winter), but the population falls off dramatically in MS63. Most stars show clear radial lines and centers, and the eagle's feathers, claws, and fletchings are well-struck. Yellow-gold color blends with satiny luster. The obverse exhibits a series of abrasions near the neck. Population: 8 in 63 (1 in 63+), 0 finer (6/17).
