Liberty Double Eagles
1852-O $20 XF45 NGC. Variety 1. Production of double eagles at the New Orleans Mint dropped significantly from 1851 to 1852, when 190,000 pieces were struck. Usual grades for the 1852-O range from VF to XF, so this example is at the upper end of what is still considered collectible. The stars are needle-sharp with full centers and radials, while Liberty's curls and the eagle's feathers show considerable blending. Pleasing orange-gold color graces each side.
