Liberty Double Eagles
1897-S $20 MS64+ PCGS. Most collectors should easily locate an MS64 representative of the well-made 1897-S double eagle. They will encounter much great difficulty, however, in searching for anything finer than this Plus-designated near-Gem. Fully struck devices, radiant mint frost, and deep orange-gold coloration are apparent throughout. A couple of tiny grazes on the cheek barely limit the grade, but the fields are noticeably clean. PCGS records 14 finer submissions (6/17).
