Territorial Gold
(1842-52) G$1 A. Bechtler Dollar, 27G. 21C., Plain Edge AU53 PCGS. K-24, R.3. August Bechtler took over from his father around 1840 but passed away shortly thereafter in the summer of 1846. Throughout their 20-year run, the Bechtler family produced some of the best-regarded private gold coinage in the country. This moderately wavy green-gold Bechtler dollar features crisp detail on the legends and glints of luster within the recesses. The surfaces are smooth, save for two horizontal and two diagonal pinscratches left of the 1 in the denomination and another between EC. Listed on page 393 of the 2018 Guide Book.
