ESSEQUIBO & DEMERARY. Stiver Struck in Gilt Copper, 1813. NGC PROOF-63 CAMEO.
KM-10a; Prid-29B. According to Pridmore "The gilt proofs are one of the few examples of the R.M. (Royal Mint) striking in that metal. There is no record of the striking of gilt proofs in the R.M. after 1821." Sharply struck as would be expected being a Royal mint product with excellent definition of the details. Minute handling marks and light wispy hairlines in the fields now somewhat subdued with light lemon-yellow tone. An wonderful example for the specialist of British colonial or West Indies.
