Fr-4; Elias-39a; Hewlett-Pl. III # 5. RARE in this state of preservation. During his reign Edward was generally considered a good monarch and like many of the rulers of the time he maintained order and sought to expand his territory. The gold coinage of Edward III can be divided in the four distinct types, the Florin, Ecu, Leopard and the Guiennois. Each bearing legends with direct correlation of the political atmosphere between France and England. An interesting issue and highly sought after in such splendid condition as the present example. Good strike, lustrous and lightly toned. NGC MS-63.
