FRANCE. 100 Franc, 1869-BB. NGC MS-62.
Fr-581; KM-802.2; Gad-1136. From a mintage of only 14,000 pieces. Housed in an older generation NGC holder. A bold and crisp coin with impossibly intricate detail in the reverse shield along with a clean portrait. The dies (both sides) had been severely wire brushed by the time this coin was struck, and there is clear evidence of raised lines in the fields, especially on the reverse. Last year of the issue in Strasbourg, struck on the eve of the Franco-Prussian War. Upon France's humiliating defeat, Otto Von Bismarck was said to have remarked: "Fools learn from experience. I prefer to learn from the experience of others". NGC MS-62.

Estimate: $2000.00- $2500.00
