S-2534; Fr-214; North-2008. During the 44 years Elizabeth I was on the throne she made many advances for her country as well as benefited from more than her fair share of good luck. When it came to government she was a moderate with one of her mottoes "Video et taceo" ("I see but say nothing") and was fairly tolerant when it came to religious matters. Her defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588 is considered one of England's greatest military victories in history. An impressive problem free example of this large gold type which exhibits an excellent strike showing the fine details on both the obverse and reverse. PCGS AU-53 Secure Holder.
