GREAT BRITAIN. Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Medals Display Set by Paul Vincze, 1953.
BHM-4451. The medal that many numismatic historians feel established Paul Vincze as the preeminent figure in medallic portraiture. His evocative portrait of the young Queen stood out from the run-of-the-mill medals produced for the Coronation, and the reverse image of a young woman nurturing a single plant with thistles, shamrocks and a blooming rose struck a chord that moved many Britons. This set features the standard 38 mm bronze and silver medals, the very rare 18K gold version, and a magnificent and very impressive 193 mm bronze galvano of the obverse. The set, which is housed in a custom 33x49 cm plastic display plaque also bears a printed and typed gilt-edged information card inscribed, in part, "This is to certify that the enclosed Coronation Medal of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is the Number 2 Copy of a limited edition of 25 (18 kt) gold medals, together with the supporting original size (7 3/4") Bronze Cast Number 5 of a limited edition of 10, and that it is the first cast with the correct and final inscription". The card is hand-signed by the artist. An important and significant acquisition for the Paul Vincze collector, or collector of British Coronation Medals. MINT STATE.

From the Collection of Emil Voigt, believed to have been part of the Howland Wood Award recipient Best in Show Exhibit at the 1974 ANA Convention.

Estimate: $3000.00- $4000.00
