PERU. 8 Escudos, 1712-M. Philip V (1700-46). NGC AU-58.
26.8 gms. Fr-7; KM-38.2; Cal-Type 5#23. Two clear dates on the obverse. Choice centering with both dates clear and bold, as are all of the beads on both sides of the coin. Accompanied by hand-signed letter in typed format from Frank Sedwick dated October 23, 1985. The letter contains comments attesting to the coin's authenticity, as well as provenance of being recovered from the 1715 Plate Fleet. Sedwick notes, "This coin, in fact, is one of the best specimens I have seen of its type." The letter is signed "Frank Sedwick", consultant for cobs to the Certification Service of the American Numismatic Association. NGC AU-58.
