RUSSIA. Silver Medal, 1851. PCGS SP-63 Secure Holder.
Dia-598.1. J.J. Reichel, Russian coin Engraver Medal on the opening of the New Hermitage, 1851. Bust slightly to the left of Jakob Reichel, name and birth information around, "C. PFEUFFER FEC" below bust; Reverse: Reichel Family Arms inscription on ribbon around. Reichel was the medalist at the St. Petersburg Mint from 1808 until his death in 1856. His outstanding collection of Russian and other coins and medals was purchased by Czar Nicholas I and was the genesis of the mint's numismatic cabinet. Sharply struck as would be expected with hard flashy proof-like surfaces and stark contrast to the raised devices accentuated by a lovely golden and red tone. VERY RARE. PCGS SP-63 Secure Holder.

Estimate: $4000.00- $6000.00
