MEXICO. 4 Reales, 1740-MF. Philip V (1700-46). NGC EF Details--Environmental Damage.
KM-94; Gil-M-4-12c; Yonaka-M4-40b; Cal-Type 179#1057; Harris-144; Palmer & Almazar-218; Grove-775. No neckmould atop right pillar. Clean date with a SCARCE pillar variety. Well struck with good definition of the details. Light attractive russet throughout. Small area on reverse at 12 o'clock where there appears to be a bit of porosity now toned over and consistent with the rest of the coin. Despite the noted defect of "environmental damage" an attractive example and sure to excite the specialist of Colonial Mexico. NGC EF Details--Environmental Damage.
